Singapore has 15 start-ups on Forbes Asia's "100 Companies to Watch" list in Asia this year, surpassing Chinese mainland and Japan and second only to India.
Forbes Asia announced on Tuesday (August 27) that Singapore has the second largest number of companies on the list in 2024, but five fewer than last year's 20, followed by Chinese mainland with 10 and Japan with nine on the list. India topped the list with 20 companies.
Last year, India had six companies on the list, 11 from Chinese mainland and three from Japan.
This year, Singapore had the most companies on the list in the Enterprise Technology & Robotics category, with five, four fewer than last year, including Bluesheets, which automates enterprise financial data management through artificial intelligence (AI), and SquareX, which provides a browser network security plugin.
This is followed by the financial sector, with four companies on the list as last year, including Tazapay, which helps small businesses transact across borders, and Fluid and HitPay, which support "pay now, buy later".
The number of biotech and healthcare companies has decreased from four last year to two, including Neurowyzr, which detects brain degeneration. The food and hospitality industry is still one company on the list, and this year it is the health food chain SaladStop! Group。
